Reiner,
This may help you.
YOUR QUESTION:
Dear fellow searchers,
as I was told, there are some Mac-users umong us, who can perhaps help
me.
Can Mac-/Apple-user open (un-zip) .zip-files (used by Windows to
compress big files)?
Thank you in advance, Reiner
ANSWER:
Most Macs should.
I use operating system "OS X version 10.3.6"
It uses 'Stuffit Expander' running in the background to open compressed
files when klikked.
- The .ZIP file suffix refers to a data compression format commonly
used on DOS, and Microsoft Windows-based computers. Once you have
downloaded the file in this format, a decompression program must be
used to "UnZIP" the file. Programs such as PKWARE Inc. PKZIP, WinZIP,
and others, can be used for this purpose.
------
-.zip
pkzip, a common DOS/Windows compression format.
*Use ZipIt, Stuffit Expander, or MacUnZip.*
