I agree. If somebody visited the former camps as an American soldier, it
couldn't have been in Eastern Poland but most probably in the American
occupation zone. And indeed Buchenwald near Weimar, Thuringia, and
Bergen-Belsen in the L|neburger Heide, Lower Saxony, were the most
famous camps in this zone. Later, in July 1945, the American occupied
parts of Saxony and Thuringia including Weimar and Buchenwald came to
the Russian Zone.
