Hi Gary,

do you have a place name or is it "just south of Bremen"?
If you have a place, you could go and ask at the "Standesamt"
(registrar's office) or even at the church, where the
baptisms were registered. That's the way how I got some birth
certificates of my greatgrandparents from the 1890es.

In case you need somebody to find out the address of a
special "Standesamt", I'd like to offer my help.
