Mr. Ernst Fischer, 4814 - 50 St., Barrhead, Alberta T7N 1G5 - Tel.: 780 674
3092 is looking for his family.  He was born on July 4, 1929 in Ignatow, Co.
of Chelm, Ev.-Luth. congregation of Kamin and is supposed to have been
baptized at home by a teacher by the name of Schmidt.  He is looking for his
blood relatives of whom he knows almost nothing.  Ernst was raised by
adoptive parents Samuel Fischer (+ 1967) and Julianne nee. Pahl (+ 1987).
The family had immigrated to Canada in 1948.  His biological parents were
Ferdinand Bettker/Bettcher and Berta nee Kolm.  Ernst's last name was Kolm
until 1941 when he was legally adopted.  He saw his biological mother only
twice when he was about four and then about seven but was not allowed to
speak with her at all.  He still remembers waiting for her in the summer
(patio) room.  After this he had no more contact with the families of his
biological parents.  Ernst had at least one halfbrother and one halfsister.
These were Waldemar (Waldke) Bettker/Bettcher and Maria Bettker/Bettcher.
Maria's first husband had the last name of Weiss but he died in the last
war.  She then married a Mr. Albrecht and lived according to the last news,
in Wollenhausen, Co. of Marienburg near Hildesheim.  The second husband had
been in the German army in Italy and was a prisoner of war in the USA but
returned to Germany later on.

I have been asked to search for the family by Mr. Fischer.  He is presently
ill.  He is married to Hilda nee Berndt and has six children and ten
grandchildren.
