Hi Donna,
Here is the key sequence I use to insert small and capital umlauted letters.
Hold down the Alt key and then enter the numbers on the Key Pad. Using the
numbers at the top of the keyboard will not work.
Letter small Capital
a 132 142
e 137
i 139
o 148 153
u 129 154
B 225

Dear Listers,
I'm not sure if this is appropriate news to pass along, but I've found a
method to substitue umlauts much faster than having to wait for an insert on
the task bar.
By holding down the "Alt"key; then punching in specific numbers of the
keypad
to the right of the board, then releasing the Alt key, it will give rapid
inserts to many signs and symbols. This system works on many font types,
especially Arial, Tahoma, Times New Roman, Georgia, etc. After figuring
these
out, I've written these on a small index card and is pasted to my monitor
for
rapid reference. It saves me a great deal of time; soon anyone can memorize
these without looking at the card.
For instance:
0228 = C$; 0196 = C; 0223 = C; C6 = 0246; C = 0214; C( = 0232; C< =
0252; C
= 0220;
C = 0200; b = 0134; (German slang for "good-bye") = TschC<C
B" = 0162; B< = 0188; B= = 0189; B>= 0190; B# = 0163
Hope this is of some help to people? Please correct me if I'm wrong.
Warmest regards, hoping for same;

Hello Linda,
please don't use diphthongues in messages to this listserv (substitute
them by ae, oe, ue, ss). Unfortunately it isn't able to transmit them.
So, transscribed it should look like
Paradies, Paradies,
wie ist deine Frucht so suess!
Unter deinen Lebensbaeumen
wird uns sein, als ob wir traeumen:
bring uns, Herr, ins Paradies!
It is the fifth verse of the song "Lasst mich gehn, lasst mich gehn" by
Gustav KNAK (1806-1878), Melody (1879) by Friedrich Oskar WERMANN
(1840-1906), which may be found under
www.musicanet.org/robokopp/Lieder/lasstmig.html .
