[Ger-Poland-Volhynia] Search for Grandparents Origins

Wolenski = Volhynia.

Volka = Wolka / Wulka

Wolka / Wulka is a place name that can stand alone or goes together with 
another word.  Heimtal is the name of a Lutheran Parish in Volhynia and 
that is the most probable connection to Wolka.

The only one presently known to be in the parish of Heimtal is Wulka 
Zelenickaja which is located about 20 km almost due north of Heimtal.

To find Heimtal on a modern map, go to 
http://www.lib.berkeley.edu/EART/x-ussr/ukraine.html and click on Zitomir, 
then #57.  If necessary, enlarge the map that comes up.  Go to horizontal 
line 04 and then across to vertical line 84.  Here you will see a village 
extending along the road in a north-south direction with the number 227.8 
beside it.  That is Heimtal.

For Wulka, go to the next map north, #45.  Go to horizontal line 26 and 
across to vertical 86.  The village at that intersection is Huta 
Zelenickaja (Guta Zelenizka).  Heading SE from there is a dashed 
trail.  Wulka was down that trail, just below line 24.

A word of caution - It is possible that there is another Wulka / Wolka in 
the Heimtal parish that is not yet documented as a Germanic village.

If you check the St. Pete records on the SGGEE site, you will find one 
Johann Meister family still having children in the late 1870s.  To ensure 
you have the right family, you may have to track down siblings of Julius 
and Eva.

The bad news is that records after 1885 are not easy to obtain.
