  Best to check local and state archives for records of such "immigrant
homes."  Some registers, etc. have survived in other states, but what I've
seen didn't offer much other information than names and dates (like a hotel
register.)  Folks didn't stay at these places very long, so there probably
wasn't a need for information to accumulate on the immigrants. More like a
"traveler's aid" station where they answered questions, etc. and gave folks a
bed for a night or two. Basically they were just "stopover hotels" used on the
way to somewhere else.  The good thing was that the people spoke German so
communication in the New World was less confusing for the immigrant..

  Sorry, I don't know anything about Illinois records, but I would certainly
check their various archives for the Evansville home. Check directories of
that time period to see if the name at that address may have changed with
time.  Then look for info on all possible names for that place as well. Also,
check out local libraries, as sometimes they have "bits and pieces" of
interesting local historical documents.
