I am not able to identify your Malidow, Russia. However, the clarification
regarding Volhynia points to Franciszkowka located there about 21 km WSW of
Rozyszcze.
Since he was German and living in this area, there is a 99% chance that he
was Lutheran. The original parish records for this time frame have not
been microfilmed but are held in the Warsaw Archives. Since we don't know
where Malidow is, it may be that his birth is not recorded there. However,
if he married before migrating to the States, that record might be
available. That record would also show a place of birth for him as well as
the names of his parents.
