Halopchee( Cabbage Rolls) (excuse my acculturated spelling) was a favourite
in my family at Christmas. Glompke it's called in Polish. Yum, Christmas is
coming...

My Mom, aunt, and other relatives, also made what they called Pirogi (or
Pirogen as the German variant to signify the plural) but they were normally
filled with a special cottage cheese more like curd. Maybe different regions
used different terms for these dishes. My family came from near Lublin,
Poland.
I thought the cabbage rolls was a German dish my mom made. I never liked the
Borscht though. What is missing on this menu is a sweet pastry - Poonchkie
(or Punschken as the Germans seemed to call them).

Sorry folks - it is only in the German language but you can look at the
pictures anyway and set your mouth to watering. :-)
Here is what is shown:
Borscht (beet soup)
Golubzi (holopshi? cabbage rolls)
Mlinzi (this one I don't recognize)
Pirogi (fruit filled pockets)
Wareniki (veronike - cottage cheese filled pockets)
I had always thought of Pirogi and Wareniki as simply variations of the
same thing but here they appear to differentiate between fruit and other
fillings.
Scrolling does not seem to work with Netscape so best to use Explorer to
