Subject: GR foreign visitors to: South Dakota

Dear Friends,
August 18, 2003
I wanted to let you know that there will be some special visitors from 
Russia this year at the GRHS convention in Rapid City.

Pastor Gottfried Spieth, who is from the State of Baden-Wuerttemberg in SW 
Germany but presently serving as the Theological Assistant to Bishop 
Siegfried Springer of the Evangelical Lutheran Church - European Russia in 
Moscow, will be at the convention in Rapid City.

Chairman Roman Heidemann of St. Gertrude Lutheran Church in Ekaterinburg 
(previously called Sverdlovsk) will also be at the convention.

Both gentlemen are here as guests of the South Dakota District of  the 
Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod.  Pastor Vernon Schindler is the President 
of this District.

Pastor Spieth and Mr. Heidemann will be giving mission presentations on the 
parishes centered in UFA SA and in Ekaterinburg.  The Ufa region had 
originally been settled by Black Sea Germans and the congregation in 
Ekaterinburg is mixed as are, of course, all congregations by now as a 
result of the massive movement of our people because of the last two wars 
and because of economic reasons.

Pastor Schindler is arranging their itinerary and they plan to be in South 
Dakota for most of September.  His email address is:
