Dorothy, I explored ellisislandrecords.org for about 3 hours with various
spellings and this is the best list I could come up with for the year 1911. I
was particularly interested in who these people came to visit in the U.S.
because this might give the Canadian connection. Several in the list went to
Hoboken, NJ and that is just over the bridge from N.Y.C. (I am from N.Y.C. and
used to live in Hoboken at one time). I suggest you look at any record there
and realize these lists are 2 pages long. Make sure you view ORIGINAL MANIFEST
both page 1 and page 2. They say who each person left in their old country as
their closest relative, and then they say who and where they are going to
visit here in the U.S. If I can help further, email me at

My grandmother, Mathilde BRACH came to N.Y.C. with her sisters. She married my
grandfather at an intriguing church on about 46th St. in N.Y. called St.
Luke's Evangelical Lutheran. I just wish they had better record keeping!!! But
her sister Julia BRACH-SCHMIDT married and also went to Canada. So far, I
