Eleanor,

I just installed the DjVu plugin on my wife's XP machine and it works fine.

When you go to the DjVu site, there is a tiny little download button below 
all the blue lines in the upper left corner of the DjVu opening 
page.  Click on it and it will start the download process.  There is 
something not quite right with the installation screens that come up, 
because it will say several times that it cannot find something.  Tell the 
installer to ignore those items and continue with the installation.  The 
install will still be successful and it is still free.
