It's not just a matter of interpreting,the statistics; there can be a surprise or shock factor to the statistics because, as the teacher says, this is also about introducing historical information that becomes a topic of deeper discussion, makes the kids think outside the box, and sometimes makes them say, "I had no idea this happened."
