Hi Ken and Jerry,

I may be the mystery person. I visited an archive in St.Petersburg
in 2004. By a few fortunate circumstances I was able to meet the
Deputy Director, who spoke English. He indicated that most of their
file holdings (fonds) were not accessible because of renovations.
He gave a copy of a book by one of the archive staff on the Lutheran
church in Southern Russia. I have been meaning to donate it to the
SGGEE Library. A cousin has translated the first chapter from
Russian into German. It is a scholarly work, as you might expect
from someone who work at an archive, a historical record of churches,
pastors, etc.

The phone number I have is (406) 755-5831. I think he is still a SGGEE
member. Ken Krell ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jerry

St.pete files The records are indeed at that archive. However, the
archive was closed about 10 or more years ago for renovations. It
was slated to reopen in 8 years but to date, I have seen no evidence of
that. If you GOOGLE that archive, the first link that comes up
takes you to a citation that was made way back in 1994. Having said that,
there was a gentleman at one of our conventions some 3 or 4 years ago who
claimed to have visited there in person and obtained info from the St.
Petersburg Consistory fonds. However, I do not recall his name nor
did he provide us with any details of his accomplishment. I am
unsure of the veracity of his claim. Jerry ----- Original Message -----
